"An investigative panel looking into violent crimes and abuse at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas said on Tuesday it found a command structure that was “permissive” of sexual assaults.

As a result, over a dozen commanders have been suspended or relieved and Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said he expects to make widespread changes in light of the panel’s finding."

I’m sure this will lead to Fort Hood convening authorities thinking long and hard about sending a crappy 120 case to trial.

Still reading but I had to stop on page 81 to post a comment. The report says that they interviewed 600 plus Soldiers and that many expressed fear that SHARP complaints could be weaponized to destroy the career of innocent Soldiers.

The report largely dismissed this fear, stating that only two of the individuals they interviewed claimed to have been falsely accused and neither of their careers were ruined.

It’s sort of pointing out the obvious, but those whose careers have been ruined would, by definition, not be present (as they presumably would not be in the Army). It’s sort of a truism to say “we spoke to people in the Army and none of them had been forced out of the Army.”

It is also perhaps somewhat ironic that this section follows closely after the sections where the report notes (1) the extremely high rate of dismissals/acquittals for sexual offenses and (2) the significant length of time that these cases take to reach a conclusion. Presumably many the accused Soldiers in the 89% of preferred rape cases that the report notes did not result in convictions would feel their careers had been ruined by the prosecutions.

Scott.
The comment you make requires constant revisting. This video shows why. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9WFpVsRtQg
For some perspective; General Fil didn't have an open door policy. So this data/information, though timely, hints lacking depth.

I am really interested in that part where it says that involuntary discharges are attacted to bases. First thought is trauma bond. But I'd bet that is surface. Maybe something to do with the personnality that bought them in the survice in the first place.
